Akshaya Mohanty (Kashyap) was born in 1937 in Kiardingiri village of Cuttack district. He was interested in theater since childhood. He acted in the play “Eklabya” while studying in the fifth grade at Revenshaw Collegiate School. He acted in the play ‘Mamata’ under in ‘United Artists’ theater group which brought him recognition. The attraction of acting was so intense that his quit his job and took up acting as his profession. In 1959, he stepped into the world of Odia cinema through the film Sri Loknath. Later he worked as an actor and director in many Odia films and Jatras. Among Akshaya Mohanty (Kashyap)’s notable works include Sri Lokanath, Manika Jodi, Mala Janha, Sansar, Sautuni, Sankha Sindura, Nala Damayanti, Jai Phula, Maha Sati Savitri & Kotie Manisha Gotie Jaga.
