Directing
Besides composing many plays, Bijay Mishra has composed dialogues for movies and serials. He composed 60 plays, 55 films and 7 serials. He won the Central Sahitya Akademi Award in 2013 for his play book ‘Banaprastha’. At the age of just 21, he composed his first play, ‘Janani’. Samuel Sahu, the renowned director of Annapurna-B group, initially disliked the book, but later the play was successfully staged by the Annapurna-B group for four consecutive months, six days a week. It was later adapted into a film. Similarly, his play ‘Jajabara’ was adapted into film which was released in 1975. ‘Jajabara’ was his first film. He directed the film under the pseudo name Trimurti (along with Akshay Mohanty and Hemanta Das). Bijay Mishra won Odisha Sahitya Akademi Award for ‘Jaadukar’ He has won Odisha Sangeet Natak Academy Award, Kendra Sangeet Natak Academy Award and Jaydev Award among others.
