Synopsis:
‘Whispers of a Storm’ is set in the cyclone-ravaged coastal villages of Odisha, also known as the land of cyclones. A photographer, driven by ambition, chooses to capture the aftermath of cyclone ‘Fani’ (in 2019), one of the most powerful cyclones in South Asia.
The photographer shows no empathy towards the plight of the people affected by the disaster, instead focusing solely on how he can profit from their misfortune. Meanwhile, a villager returning from a rescue camp finds his home destroyed by the cyclone. Despite this, he gathers his memories from the rubble, determined to carry them with him in search of a safer place.
Daya, a young devotee of God, tries to console the suffering villagers by telling them that everything is God’s will and they should not weep. He even goes to extremes to make an elderly man laugh, refusing to accept any form of sorrow.
In contrast, a grieving mother who lost her son in the cyclone decides to leave the village and seeks solace in nature. These seemingly unrelated characters discover connections and significance within a fragmented narrative of their respective losses.
