Career

Anita Das made her feature film debut with Jajabar (1975), and her since appeared in over a hundred films, mostly in supporting roles. She predominantly appeared in more than a hundred movies since then, mostly in supporting roles as a mother. Significant acting credits include Ramayan (1980), Krushna Sudama, Bhakta Salabega, Swapna Sagara (1983), Gadhi Janile Ghara Sundara (1994), Sathire (2004), Om Shanti Om (2005), Aama Bhitare Kichhi Achhi (2010), Shapath (2012), Abhay (2017) and Excuse Me (2018). She was quite popular for essaying the role of mother in most of her films after the 1980s.

Anita Das received the Odisha State Film Award (Best Actress) for her acting in the film, Tapasya in 1980 and also received the prestigious award again for her lead role in the 1983 film, Bhakta Salabeg. She also won the Odisha State Film Award for Best supporting actress in 1987 for her performance in the film, Eai Ta Dunia.
