Amada Bata

- Lyrics

Born on May 28, 1933 at Koeli village, Singh earned his name in the world of Odia music. He wrote the lyrics to a number of well-known, catchy tunes used in Odia movies.

He started his breakthrough by creating songs for Akashvani, and after penning more than a hundred songs that appealed to both urban and rural audiences, he became known as Rasaraj in the Odia cinema industry.

His philosophical and modern melodies had a significant influence on young people, and several of his songs are all-time classics. His song ‘Jibana Jamunare Juara Uthere,’ written by the great Balakrushna Dash for the movie Amada Bata, recounts a girl’s anxiety and joy during her marriage. Every music lover’s heart is touched by Singh’s other classic song, ‘Jochhana Luchan Dura Nila Gagane’ from Adina Megha as performed by Nirmala Mishra.

Listeners will always find humor in the comic song ‘Udi Udi Udi Udi Jaare Gudi,’ sung by the late singer Akshay Mohanty, and ‘Dil Debi Dil Debi,’ sung by Sikandar Alam. Singh’s writings have enriched Odia film music, whether it is in the songs ‘Ratha Ja Gadi Jaa Chaka Gadi Jaa Re,’ ‘Dele Dhara Katha Sare,’ ‘Kainchi Kakudi Nalita Pita,’ ‘Pirate Chori Chori Khela,’ ‘Ratani Gaja Gamani,’ or ‘Ae Ta Kali Kala Reeti Biparita Bhai Re’.
