Synopsis:

Sania, portrayed by Prashant Nanda, resides in a village with his mother and friend Makara, where they make a living as fishermen. One day, they discover a girl named Manika, played by Mahasweta Ray, in the river and rescue her. Sania brings Manika to his home and they care for her until she recovers. Subsequently, Sania and Makara make the decision to reunite Manika with her parents. However, upon reaching Manika’s village, her parents reject her due to her association with individuals from a lower caste. As a result, Sania decides to keep Manika at his home.

Over time, Manika develops feelings for Sania, but his sense of duty and societal norms prevent him from reciprocating her affection since she comes from a higher caste. Intent on finding a suitable match for Manika, Sania connects her with a doctor who arrives in the village to treat a plague outbreak. The doctor agrees to marry Manika and leaves to seek his family’s approval. However, as days go by, the doctor does not return, leaving the villagers in a state of uncertainty.

The villagers expressed their disapproval of unmarried Sania and Manika residing together. The criticism became unbearable for Manika, prompting her to disappear. Sania’s mental state deteriorated as he struggled to cope with the situation.
