Kaa
Kaa is based on the acclaimed novel of the same name by Kanhu Charan Mohanty. The movie glories the tale of a childless mother who forced her husband to wed a different woman in order to have a child. Kaa directed by Siddharth, the pseudonym for Ram Chandra Thakur, Gour Prasad Ghose and Parbati Ghose.

Many artistes debuted in Kaa such as Guru Mayadhar Rout as choreographer, danseuse Sanjukta Panigrahi and Devdas Chhotray as lyricist (later vice chancellor of Ravenshaw College). The movie featured a 6 minutes dance sequence by Sanjukta Panigrahi. Comedian Sarat Mohanty and Parbati Ghose’s brothers Sudhanshu Naik, Subhash Naik and Swarup Naik played stellar roles. Kaa won commendation from President in the category of regional language movie.

Plot:
Nandika (Parbati Ghosh) and Sunanda (Gour Prasad Ghose) are happily lived together with mother-in-law Abhaya (Manimala Devi) and sister-in law Kuni. Still childless after seven years of marriage, Nadika. Abhaya is constantly concerned about her family’s future. Nandika’s infertility is constantly blamed and insulted by her friends and family. Finally, Nandika makes the decision to make a sacrifice and persuades Sunanda to wed a girl again in order to have a child. Sunanda resolves to be married again despite intense pressure from his mother and wife. Sunanda marries Lalita (Geeta Dutt). Lalita forces Sunanda to leave his family and first wife after their marriage. Lalita and Sunanda finally live apart from their families. Time goes by, and destiny tells a different story. When Lalita learns that Nandika is pregnant, she feels jealous and worried that Sunanda won’t return to her. After giving birth, Nandika passes away. Lalita takes over Nandika’s child as her own after realising her error. The family again live happily.
