Movie Details
Six songs were recorded based on the script of the play. Though efforts were made since 1966, the script of the Movie could be ready by April 1969 and the name was changed to ‘Bandhan’. Out of the earlier recorded songs, all songs were used except ‘Maa Kalijai Lo…’ by Pranab Pattnaik. The production of Movie ran into trouble when the loan taken from O.S.F.C was exhausted. The Movie was completed with loan from money lender Subbarao of Cuttack. The Movie was released on 3rd October 1969 at Prabhat Cinema, Cuttack and was appreceated by the audience. However the Movie faced court case from Balaram Mishra of Rayagada on issue of copyright. The matter was amicably resolved with facilitation of Advocate Krushna Chandra Buxipatra of Rayagada. Nitai Palit was awarded as ‘Best Director’ and Samuel Sahu (Babi) was awarded as ‘Best Actor’ for the Movie by the State Government.
